Once the exclusive dominance of teenagers who played Pac-Man in their basements, video games have grown into something very important. Not only are they a multimillion-dollar business for their developers, but games have spawned the world of Online Multiplayer Games or eSports, where the world’s best players can earn millions for their exploits.

2019 is and will continue to be a wonderful year for esports. There are numerous new and old online multiplayer games that attract a large number of spectators. Sponsors quickly realized that it’s a good idea to participate. Even the betting companies appeared because of the competitiveness of the industry.

While there are numerous esports games that are popular right now, as you can clearly find out even by looking at streaming platforms like Twitch, there are some that clearly stand out. So what are the most popular eSports in the world right now? Read on to find out.

Best Online Multiplayer Games 2020:

1. Fortnite

Fortnite Battle Royale is the free multiplayer ‘battle royale’ variant of Fortnite, the Epic Games video game. Taking the playable foundations of the action, construction and survival title, Paragon’s parents have designed a proposal similar to that of the all-powerful PUBG but with their own ideas, both on consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as on PC.

Fortnite Battle Royale invites you to fight against a hundred players in a game, in which you have to parachute down from the skies in a huge scenario. Users can choose any area of the map to land, and once there, get the loot, equipment and weapons needed to equip theself and have a choice to survive against their rivals.

2. Dota 2

DOTA 2 is the second installment of Defense of the Ancients, the development of which stems from Valve’s collaboration with developer Ice Frog. The game, a success in esports, respects the more than 100 heroes of the original game, along with their items and the various improvements.

The sequel to the acclaimed title puts aside the old Warcraft III engine and bets on The Valve’s own engine Source. An impeccable free-to-play title at all levels that not only does justice to the legacy of the original title, but also does so in such style and bluntness that it is impossible not to fall to its charms.

3. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

An authentic “Battle Real” is what the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds video game offers us. You have complete freedom to wreak havoc in every corner of your extensive map and use all available weapons to take down your rivals without them noticing your mere presence. Survival is vital: every live minute is a win in the game.

Battlegrounds is the work of Brendan Greene, a veteran who was the main developer in charge of the ARMA Battle Royale Mod and H1Z1’s King of the Hill.

4. Overwatch

Overwatch is a cooperative and competitive first-person action video game developed by Blizzard, creators of games like Starcraft, Diablo or Warcraft, which for the first time tackle a profile game first person shooter. The title is set in a distant and fantasy future, where dozens of leading heroes are the only ones capable of safeguarding peace on Earth from the threat of hostile robots.

However, Overwatch’s relevance is far from that of its story, which we are in fact told through a series of animated short films that were published to promote the game, and all the excitement and fun of the video game lies in its multiplayer.

5. League of Legends

League of Legends, usually called simply LoL, is a FREE to play video game signed by Riot Games and inspired by the Warcraft III mod “Defense of the Ancients”. Since 2009 it has become one of the most popular video games of all time, with tens of millions of daily players; undisputed favorite on Twitch and a key benchmark in the field of esports for its multiple LoL championships and competitions.

6. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is the fourth video game in the COD Black Ops series available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, which this time is presented as the deepest game in the entire Call of Duty story and focuses on 3 pillars : Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout, your new survival battle royale mode.

Developed by Treyarch, Black Ops 4 abandons the jumps with impulses and the ability to run through walls to focus on the most genuine COD gameplay but taken to a new level. New movements, smooth control, non-regenerative health automatically, classes and specialists.

7. Hearthstone

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a popular free strategy and card game set in the Warcraft universe in which you can face other players in challenging duels, allowing you to get new cards, spells, characters and weapons.

8. StarCraft II

When StarCraft II was released in 2010, it told audiences around the world that a new era of esports had arrived. Designed with a professional game in mind and programmed to coincide with the rise of live streaming, StarCraft II, the esport, was an instant hit.

The game features three playable races: Terran (futuristic humans), Protoss (smart aliens) and Zerg (insect-like aliens acting as part of a hive’s mind). Players take control of one of the races and act as military generals gathering resources, building buildings, and training troops to destroy the enemy base. Players can compete in free matches for all or teams against human or computer-controlled opponents.

9. Rocket League

Rocket League dramatically combines car racing with football, proposing to face the opponents in intense duels in which virtually everything is allowed. The concept of driving is totally arcade, relying on a totally exaggerated physics concept that suits you beautifully to the intense five-minute encounters that last in Rocket League. In short, real cars, football and thrusters for a very fun multiplayer game.

10. Apex Legends

Apex Legends is Respawn and EA’s new battle royale free to play set in Titanfall’s futuristic and sci-fi universe. In this way, you have to form an assault group with other users and face off on a huge map against 60 players to see who rises victorious.

In Apex Legends you’ll have to team up with three other players to fall to a specific point on the map, collect weapons and equipment and try to be the last survivors of the game. Once again, the scenario will shrink, inviting us to be fast and very effective in our eliminations, looking for enemies and fighting as a team.
